Downtown Tacoma is getting an all-day café built around smoothies and to-go daiquiris when Tropical Sip Café opens Friday, Sept. 4, at 901 Pacific Ave., Suite B.
The café is open to all ages and aims to serve everyone from morning commuters grabbing breakfast to evening bar-hoppers looking for a frozen drink on the way out.
The menu spans breakfast through happy hour. Morning options include bacon, egg and cheese sandwiches, oatmeal, crepes and acai bowls, while lunch brings BLTs, turkey clubs, salads and wraps. Smoothies run all day, with names like Tropical Sunrise and Bahama Mama.
Starting at noon, customers can order customizable daiquiris to go, choosing their own toppings and ingredients. Beer and other cocktails will be served later in the afternoon but are dine-in only.
Hours are 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. Friday, 9 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. Saturday. The café will be closed Sunday.
The opening lands on Labor Day weekend, giving the new spot a holiday-crowd launch along a stretch of Pacific Avenue that continues to attract restaurant investment. The team behind Wooden City is also preparing an oysters-and-martinis bar called The Loyal at 714 Pacific Ave.
