A $25 outdoor fundraiser with live music, food trucks and a silent auction comes to South Tacoma on Sept. 12.
The Tacoma Area Coalition for Individuals with Disabilities is hosting its Backyard Benefit and Silent Auction from noon to 4 p.m. at the TACID Center, 6315 South 19th St., according to an event listing in 253 Lifestyle Magazine.
The afternoon also includes games and interactive experiences.
Proceeds support TACID's wellness and recovery programs for adults experiencing physical, sensory, cognitive, developmental and behavioral health disabilities across Pierce County.
The nonprofit, led by Executive Director Nalani Linder, provides all of its services free to adults 18 and older.
Tickets cost $25.

TACID operates as a peer-led community center steps from the Tacoma Community College campus.
It offers peer support groups, wellness activities, information and referral services, and a drop-in dayroom open Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., according to the organization's website.
The center describes its model as focused on each person directing their own recovery process rather than centering on a diagnosis.
The nonprofit has deep roots in the neighborhood. TACID has operated on or near the Tacoma Community College campus for more than four decades.
KNKX Public Radio reported in October 2025 that the organization faced possible relocation after its longtime partnership with the college ended. TACID's website still lists the South 19th Street address as its current location.
The fundraiser's tagline on TACID's homepage captures the spirit simply: the organization invited the community to "join us in our own backyard." Registration and event details are available at tacid.org.
