More than 25 local artists and crafters will set up shop along Sixth Avenue on Saturday, July 11, selling everything from hand-carved crystals and jewelry to quilts, candles, and plushies. Admission is free.

The Market on 6th Ave runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at two locations: Mission Thrift at 2502 6th Ave. and Salon di Stile at 2202 6th Ave. The market expanded this year to include Mission Thrift as a second venue alongside the original Salon di Stile location, according to the event's website.

A different group of hand-selected vendors is featured each market day, so the lineup changes every time.

Clothing drive for Tacoma Rescue Mission

Shoppers can also bring clothing donations to support the Tacoma Rescue Mission, Pierce County's largest homeless shelter operator. The drive runs at both locations, with each serving a different purpose.

At Mission Thrift, organizers accept gently used clothing that goes directly to the Rescue Mission's clothing closets. At Salon di Stile, volunteers take holey or damaged items and mend them before donating. The entire process is volunteer-run, and no money changes hands.

Most-needed items include new socks, pants, shirts, coats, jackets, rain gear, thermal wear, new underwear, gloves, hats, scarves, and shoes. The Rescue Mission maintains a special clothing closet for people who need clothes to find or keep a job, according to the market's clothing drive page.

Event Director Wendy Honeywell wrote on the market's website that organizers have seen "a beautifully large response" to the clothing drive and are looking for volunteer sewists to help mend donations. Anyone who can sew a basic patch is welcome, and training is provided. Interested volunteers can email [email protected].

What to know before you go

The Market on 6th Ave runs every first and second Saturday from May through September. After Saturday, July 11, remaining 2026 dates are Saturday, Aug. 1; Saturday, Aug. 8; Saturday, Sept. 5; and Saturday, Sept. 12.

Mission Thrift is staffed in part by people completing year-long addiction recovery programs through the Tacoma Rescue Mission. Every purchase at the thrift store supports the mission's programs, which include emergency shelter and food services.
