A benefit concert for the Tacoma Rescue Mission returns to downtown Tacoma on Thursday, Oct. 15, with live music, a hosted bar and all-ages entry at McMenamins Elks Temple.

The Rock with a Reason concert runs from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. in the Spanish Ballroom at 565 Broadway. Doors open at 6 p.m. with the show starting at 7 p.m. Tickets cost $12.23, according to the Tacoma Rescue Mission's event page.

West Coast Mash headlines the evening. McMenamins describes the band as blending rock, funk, blues and folk rock, with a sound rooted in the members' individual life experiences.

Admission includes a hosted bar for guests 21 and older, with non-alcoholic drinks and food available to order.

Proceeds support the Tacoma Rescue Mission, which has provided shelter, meals and recovery programs in Tacoma since 1912. The mission credited partner Ted Schlatter with helping bring the concert back, according to an Instagram post promoting the event.

The fundraiser comes as Pierce County grapples with a growing homelessness crisis. The 2025 Point-in-Time Count found nearly 3,000 people experiencing homelessness countywide, and city officials have said roughly 85 percent of Pierce County's shelter beds sit in Tacoma, the Tacoma Weekly reported.

The Tacoma City Council was scheduled to vote Aug. 25 on a resolution to join the Unified Regional Approach to Homelessness, a proposed coalition of Pierce County governments. The outcome of that vote was not confirmed as of publication.

The concert takes place inside the 1916 Beaux Arts building on Broadway. Tickets are available through the Tacoma Rescue Mission's website.
