Tacoma families can trunk-or-treat inside the Tacoma Dome on Friday, Oct. 30, at T-Town, a free all-day event combining Halloween fun with a trades and hiring fair.

The City of Tacoma, Tacoma Public Schools (TPS) and Korsmo Construction are co-hosting the event, which runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., according to a city press release. Admission and parking are both free. The first 3,000 visitors will receive free Tacoma Dome bags.

Costumes are encouraged.

The event's theme is "Play. Explore. Learn. Work." City departments will set up interactive booths throughout the arena. Visitors can climb aboard real fire trucks from Tacoma Fire Department, check out Tacoma Police vehicles and see equipment from Tacoma Public Utilities, Tacoma Rail and the city's Environment and Public Works Department.

Kids and adults can strap on virtual reality goggles to experience a bucket-truck ride or see through the eyes of high-voltage electrical workers.

Other activities include riding bikes to generate electricity, stepping in front of a green screen with the TV Tacoma camera crew and backstage Dome tours.

The Tacoma Rainiers mascot Rhubarb the Reindeer will make appearances, and organizers are billing a "baby rave" among the attractions.

Visitors who collect stamps at every interactive booth can enter to win prizes, including tickets to upcoming Tacoma Dome events.

In the Exhibition Hall, the Tacoma Public Schools and Korsmo Construction Trades & Hiring Fair will feature about 100 booths from local trades-related companies, educational institutions and apprenticeship programs, according to the Tacoma Dome event page.

Employers will accept applications on site, and attendees can explore apprenticeships and training programs in maritime, transportation, construction and logistics.

Thousands of students from 10 South Puget Sound-area school districts will be bused to the fair to explore career pathways.

The job fair component was added to T-Town in 2023 through the TPS and Korsmo Construction partnership.

A dedicated sensory hour runs from 3 to 4 p.m. for guests who prefer a quieter environment. During that window, organizers will dim overhead lighting, keep sirens and horns silent and play calm music quietly.

The Tacoma Dome is a KultureCity Certified Sensory Inclusive venue, and sensory bags with noise-reducing headphones and fidget tools are available to borrow at the Guest Services Desk throughout the day.
