Nearly two dozen food trucks and vendors will line Yakima Avenue in Tacoma's Lincoln District on Friday, Aug. 14, for the Lincoln District Food Fest, a free block party running from 4 to 9 p.m.

Por Vida Northwest, a Tacoma-based, Chicana-led cultural arts organization, and the Lincoln District Business Association are putting on the event. Tacoma Sunday Market is helping coordinate the non-food vendor side, which includes vintage clothing, jewelry and other goods.

The food lineup spans the neighborhood's international flavors: Buddy's Chicken & Waffles, Bulgogi Hustle, Jan Parker Cookery (Filipino), Seven Sons Kitchen (BBQ) and South Sound Hawaiian Shave Ice among them. La Cà Bar will run a "bevvy garden" for those looking for a drink.

Lincoln District mainstays Vien Dong, Lunar's Pho and Nana Thai will offer specials and deals during the fest, according to the News Tribune.

Oakland rapper and singer Kamaiyah headlines the music stage, backed by local performers and DJs. Kamaiyah broke through with her 2016 debut mixtape "A Good Night in the Ghetto" and earned a platinum certification for her feature on YG's "Why You Always Hatin?" with Drake. In a March profile with Atwood Magazine, she described what she brings to every show: "Every time I show up, I'm the same Kamaiyah. It ain't gonna be altered because Drake just walked in the room."

The Lincoln District, centered at South 38th Street and Yakima Avenue, is one of Tacoma's 15 official Neighborhood Business Districts. The city recognizes it for its family-owned businesses, international cuisine and cultural events like the annual TET Vietnamese New Year Festival.

The fest is free and family-friendly. No registration required.
