Bryan Chushcoff, a retired Pierce County Superior Court judge, is running for Pierce County Prosecuting Attorney in the Nov. 3, 2026, general election. The nonpartisan race also includes Coreen Schnepf.
Chushcoff, a Tacoma native, said on his campaign website that he would focus on staff retention, office accountability and public safety. He said his decisions are guided by "facts, fairness, and accountability, not outside influence."

Experience and public service
Chushcoff said on his campaign website that he spent 19 years in private practice as a self-employed attorney in Tacoma before being elected to the bench. He said he served seven four-year terms as a Pierce County Superior Court judge, totaling 28 years.
Pierce County announced his retirement from the Superior Court bench.
During his tenure, Chushcoff said he was twice elected presiding judge. He said that experience gave him the credibility to lead reforms that earn public trust.
Chushcoff also said he served as a board member of the Washington State Board for Judicial Administration and as board member and treasurer of the Washington State Superior Court Judges' Association.

Chushcoff said on his campaign questionnaire that the next prosecutor must bring "strong leadership, sound judgment, and proven experience" to the role. He said he would prioritize mentorship for new attorneys, advocate for increased funding to retain experienced staff, and reorganize the office to strengthen accountability and deliver high-quality legal services.
He said he has a deep commitment to ensuring that Washington and Pierce County remain safe, just and prosperous communities for all families. Chushcoff said electing him means choosing experienced leadership dedicated to safer neighborhoods, fair representation and justice for all.
