The defending Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks are getting the full HBO treatment, with cameras already rolling at their training camp facility 30 miles north of Tacoma.

NFL Films crews began shooting "Hard Knocks: Training Camp with the Seattle Seahawks" at the Virginia Mason Athletic Center in Renton during the week of July 21, according to KING 5.

The five-episode series premieres Tuesday, August 4, at 9 p.m. PT on HBO and streams on Max, with new episodes airing every Tuesday through September 1.

This is the first time a defending Super Bowl champion has appeared on "Hard Knocks" since the Baltimore Ravens in the show's inaugural 2001 season. It's also the Seahawks' first turn on the series.

General manager John Schneider turned down an offer to appear in 2013, telling the league the team didn't want to bring "attention to ourselves," according to Yahoo Sports.

The cameras will follow head coach Mike Macdonald, quarterback Sam Darnold, wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba, cornerback Devon Witherspoon, and defensive tackle Byron Murphy II through camp.

Actor Liev Schreiber returns as narrator.

The storylines are stacked. Macdonald, 38, became the third-youngest head coach to win a Super Bowl when Seattle beat New England 29-13 in Super Bowl LX on February 8.

Smith-Njigba is coming off an AP Offensive Player of the Year campaign in which he led the NFL with 1,793 receiving yards and signed a four-year, $168 million extension this offseason. Witherspoon is entering a contract year without a new deal despite the team making an initial offer nearly four months ago.

Macdonald addressed Witherspoon's situation at the first full practice Saturday, July 25.

"I couldn't have any more confidence in our process and all the people involved in the whole operation," Macdonald told ESPN. "Spoon's doing a great job. He's practicing his tail off. He's the same guy. Nothing's changed."

Pro Football Hall of Famer Walter Jones, who played offensive tackle for the Seahawks from 1997 to 2008, told KING 5's Ultimate Seattle Sports Show in a segment published the week of July 21 that the access will give the 12s something training camp alone can't provide.

Jones said fans can attend camp but never get inside the locker rooms or follow players home to see everyday life, calling the behind-the-scenes look "pretty cool" for a fanbase as passionate as Seattle's.

The first episode drops eight days before Seattle's preseason opener Thursday, August 13. The Seahawks open the regular season Wednesday, September 9, at Lumen Field against the Patriots in a Super Bowl LX rematch.
